Marriage by registry
The municipality council of Mellerud administrates civil marriages and registration of same-sex partnerships. The civil weddings take place in Tingshuset in Mellerud. If you wish your marriage or registration ceremony to take place elsewhere, so-called privat wedding, this can only be done if you reach an agreement with the wedding officiant.
The wedding officiants in Mellerud are Stig Larsson and Kerstin Stefansson.
What to do to if your want to get married or register a same-sex relationship.
Contact your local tax office and ask for the forms for ”Ansökan om hindersprövning” and ”Anmälan makars efternamn”. Fill in the forms, sign them and send them to Skatteverket. After about a week you will get two certificates, one for marriage or registration of same-sex relationships and one for ”hindersprövning”. The certificates are valied for four months.
