Public health

In Mellerud there are several projects for the prevention of health problems. Västra Götalandsregionen (the county) is responsible for health care and surgeries in Mellerud. The municipality is responsible for handling alcohol- or drugrelated problems.

What is public health?

By public health we mean the general health status and its development taking into account the whole population or certain parts of it. The aim is to create social opportunities for good health for the whole population on equal terms.

We are all responsible for our own health, and thereby partly responsible for public health. Good public health generates evolution and development. Economic growth and social development lead to better grounds for a general social welfare, where health is evenly distibuted.
